Materials & Care
We take great pride in sourcing the best materials available. All our furniture is hand built by Brandon and his team in our wood shop in Chicago, IL with responsibly sourced materials.
All in the Details
Our cabinets are made with a mix of solid hardwood and real walnut veneer. The cabinet cases are made using the highest quality FSC certified 15 ply baltic birch core with a thick A-1 grade real wood veneer. This allows us to offer a very stable, high quality cabinet at an affordable price.
Professionally Finished
Our cabinets are finished with environmentally friendly, low VOC water-based paints, stains and topcoats. Department Home cabinets are professionally sanded and prepped for coating by our experienced team. Each cabinet has a smooth spray finish, which highlights the natural wood grain of our cabinets.

How do I clean my cabinets?
Using a water-dampened cloth, regularly remove any dust build-up. For other residue, use mild soap and water to clean your cabinet. Please avoid using anything harsh (ex: furniture polish, solvent-based cleaners, dusting sprays, etc) on your cabinet.
What do I need to do to maintain my cabinets?
We use a water-based polyurethane topcoat, so there’s no need to oil or wax your cabinets over time. However, to lengthen the life of your cabinet, please keep your cabinet away from harsh sunlight, steep changes in humidity and protect your cabinet from any liquids (making sure to use coasters and protection when placing beverages on the surface).
Any tips for moving?
When moving your cabinet, take care to properly unload all storage areas of LPs, CDs, books, etc. We do not recommend sliding your cabinet, with its legs attached, across the floor. This could result in damaging the legs or apron. To safely move your cabinet, either remove the legs or lift the entire cabinet with another person to assist. We recommend wrapping your cabinet thoroughly with plastic wrap, protecting all corners and edges with foam, and carefully placing a moving blanket over the cabinet.
