Meet Brandon & Katie
At Department Home, our journey began with a shared passion for vintage furniture and design. We started by restoring vintage pieces and selling them across the U.S., but over time, that passion evolved into something more. Drawing on years of experience in restoration and finishing, we decided to channel our love for vintage furniture into creating our own line of mid-century-inspired designs. As a husband-and-wife team, we recognized a growing need for simple, stylish storage solutions that not only captured the timeless beauty of mid-century design but also offered modern functionality using eco-friendly materials.
In the early days, our focus was on general furniture pieces like dressers, credenzas, and nightstands. It was definitely a slow start. Competing against big brands with monthly marketing budgets larger than our entire yearly revenue was no small challenge. But in 2015, everything changed when we discovered our niche: LP and audio storage cabinets.
